International Marketplace of Miniature Artisans

To meet others of like minds on a subject that you share is potent today. It is SO DIFFICULT to connect with people on an authentic level, but when you are talking about something you are both passionate about, it makes connecting much easier.

I met Paris Renfroe (@PRDMiniatures) in 2020, when he visited me installing my Franklin House at the Priscilla Fowler Gallery. He talked about the vacuum of a miniatures show in our market, and his vision was for elevating the miniatures convention experience. Paris struck me as someone who was not invested in tradition, and had a vision that was more than just switching things up. A year later, he reached out to me again and connected me with his IMoMA partner, Lisa Hicks.

Lisa and Paris are a great team because Lisa balances Paris’s vision w effective execution. She makes things happen. This show is going to grow as they include more and more non-traditional miniaturists, and that kind of miniature diversity will produce a lot of great relationships, inspiration and new conversations as well as solidify the miniatures community.

At IMoMA, I met a SLEW of ultra talented and passionate miniaturists. I also learned a little bit more about the business of miniatures to convince me that I probably don’t want to go in to business as a miniaturist…? The conversations were delightful, and you can forget saving any money! I’m also grateful to have met absolute stars from the world of social media – where many of us have met each other as well.

I’m looking forward to IMoMA 2024, and I hope that you join us!
